Really unique hay bale home in the country needed a facelift! Walls are very unqiue: Thick and anything but plumb and straight!
Software had a hard time understanding thickness of the walls and their dramatic radiuses at corners. We had to trick the software – 2020 Design – to make it work.
Customer’s wanted cabinets to be 2″ higher than normal, so cabinets supplied minus toe bases. Custom toe platform constructed, onto which the cabinets were set, that is 6.5″ in height.
Unique feature is the lift-out butcher block section. This was achieved using 1.5″ wide panels onto which the butcher block with set. Dowels keep the butcher block from sliding forward. Customers just lift out this section when more access to the kitchen is required; butcher block is right around the corner from a side door. Cool feature.
Transitional angled cabinets were used to create the octagonal peninsula.
The original cabinets, procured 20 years ago, were from Omega in Iowa. Still in great shape. New cabinets are from Kemper of SDK Masterbrand, using their new Naval blue finish.
